Not just this year, but every year, we should analyze what we believe and ask the question: “What is Truth?”
So much of what the church teaches (and lives) is far from the Truth. Nowhere has this error been more evident than the churches who claim to be “cutting edge” (although the good ole’ fashioned churches have their share of issues too).
So where can one go to learn the Truth? Do we just rely on our own experience?
If I’ve learned one thing in life, it is this:
If I rely on my own personal experience for a definition of “Truth”, I will be forever confused.
My life is full of inconsistencies, ungodliness and . . . really weird stuff! If I spend my time trying to reconcile my own frail thoughts and reasoning with His Word, I will walk around in circles forever.
But when I just give up and concede that, in my own understanding . . . I’m a complete idiot, only then do I realize that He knows everything! Only then can I pick up His infallible Word and allow it to change me. He knows everything . . . I know nothing.
When this occurs, my “churchianity blinders” start to come off, and my mind is renewed. Very, VERY gradually . . . I start to understand.
All of a sudden, verses like this become music to my ears and an encouragement to my heart:
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man’s all.
I know that writing these things does not put me in a very popular place with the “cutting-edge” church. But you must understand, His Word is the only place I can find my peace.
As we ring in the new year, let’s ask ourselves: “Do I really, truly choose to take God at His Word?” What is more True? The Eternal God and His Eternal Word, or our circumstance and wishful thinking?
I’ll just go with what the Word says.
My God keep you safe in 2013, and may He impart to all of us His Spirit of Truth!Kevin Kleint
