As I seek to find the answers to questions about God’s Word, I find a strange phenomenon taking place.
The more Truth that I discover in God’s Word, the more I find myself butting heads with people who call themselves my “brothers and sisters in Christ.”
Most of the people who read my posts fancy themselves to be “Bereans” and say that they strive to search out the scriptures and “stand for Jesus” in the midst of a world that hates them . . . and yet, they cannot get over the unscriptural mindsets that have been handed down to them for a very long time.
The Pathway to Maturity is Following the Messiah
Understand something, you who call yourselves “the Church” . . . Jesus told Peter:
Most assuredly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish.
This is Truth for all of us. As we grow in Messiah, we will be led in a direction that is NOT comfortable to our flesh.
Although I haven’t attained anything, I’m learning that the commandments of God are a BEAUTIFUL thing! To find more and more ways to obey my Lord is not a bondage anymore, it is Freedom!
The Word says:
1 John 5:3
For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.
If you are professing to have the Love of God, you will LOVE His commandments and OBEY them – they will not be a burden.
In fact, if you want to know if you truly love God, check yourself and see if you are obeying His Commandments – you’ll have your answer.
If You Say You Love God and Disobey (or Diminish) His Commandments – You Are a Liar!
In fact, the Word says:
1 John 2:4
He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
Wow! That’s strong language . . . it almost sounds “Old Testament!”
Check yourself to see if you are seeking to obey God’s commands, or if you are only concerned with what you are “free” from . . . it will speak VOLUMES of what is in your heart.
Christians Need to Take a Second Look at Their Understanding of Scripture
So . . . what about all of Paul’s teaching?
I think it’s time that we take a second look at our doctrines that center around the writings of Paul.
Somehow (whether intentional or not, I don’t know), modern day Christianity elevates the teachings of Paul ABOVE all other scripture and, as a result, so much error takes place!
Let me ask you . . . who do we serve . . . Jesus . . . or Paul?
As God leads, I’m going to be writing on these topics. Yep, add another item to the list of things that I said I was going to teach on! Sometimes having a “regular job” really stinks . . . but, alas . . . I gotta feed the family!Kevin Kleint
