Jezebel is not a spirit

“Jezebel is Not a Spirit” Now Audio Enabled!

Soon after releasing “Recognize the Real Jezebel,” a good friend of mine wrote to me and posed a question that I believe is worth addressing.

In a nutshell, she asked, “Who is ‘Jezebel’? If she is not what the prophetic/deliverance ministries say she is, what should we be looking for in the ‘church setting’?”

When I read her question, I figured out that she probably had in mind the passage in Revelation, which reads:

Revelation 2:20
Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols.

Here we have a reference to “Jezebel” in the church, not in the government as I claimed in the prior post, so I can see where some confusion could enter the picture.

Jezebel is NOT a spirit.

Contrary to what Jennifer LeClaire will tell you, “Jezebel” is not a demon, “she’s” not a spirit and, in this case, “she’s” not even a human.

In the book of Revelation, you will not find ONE connection between “Jezebel” and a “spirit” or “demon.” With the exception of Revelation 18:2, which is a general reference to “every foul spirit” in Babylon, each time you see the word “spirit,” it is in reference to the “Holy Spirit.”

You have to understand that Revelation is largely a book of imagery.

People have no problem understanding that the beast in Revelation 13 that comes up out of the sea with seven heads, ten horns and ten crowns represents something other than an actual seven-headed monster.

People have no problem understanding that the second beast in Revelation 13 that comes up out of the earth with two horns represents something else and not an actual two-horned monster that arises from the dirt and talks.

People have no problem understanding that the dragon mentioned throughout the book of Revelation represents Satan and not an actual dragon.

But if you mention “Jezebel,” all-of-a-sudden you have a manipulative, witchcraft-y, sexual, demonic spirit, the basis of a plethora of nauseating books, videos, podcasts and blog posts.

Don’t be blinded, people, someone is taking you for a ride.

Always keep in mind, wherever there is money to be made and an agenda to be furthered, a “false prophet” is always nearby.

Here’s the truth about Jezebel.

Remember, “Jezebel” is not a demon, a spirit or a person.

“Jezebel” is a mindset – an ethos – a paradigm – a framework.

“Because you allow that woman Jezebel . . .”

“Jezebel” is a way of thinking that – within the context of the Revelation passage – is allowed by leadership to operate and disseminate her propaganda within the church.

Leaders allow (and nurture) this mindset because it is all they have ever known and they think that they are doing the right thing. They unknowingly live out the lies of Jezebel and see them as benefits of their salvation.

How is this related to Jezebel being in the government?

Please excuse me while I go on a “mini-rant,” here.

Remember, Queen Jezebel was a political figure (if you can call a queen “political”) who operated in the religious arena. She surrounded herself with the prophets of Baal and Asherah.

She actually fed them – they ate at her table! (1 Kings 18:19)

Likewise, today you have the influence of Jezebel surrounding herself with religious leaders. She actually feeds them with, among other benefits, the 501c3 status and allows them a voice among the masses.

They, in turn, allow themselves to be used as pawns to manipulate the masses to vote for their chosen candidates so that they can stay in office.

Both politician, prophet and preacher bilk the masses for billions (maybe trillions?) of dollars through preaching a false tithing system (oh, and don’t forget “freewill offerings”) coupled with unfair, unjust, unwarranted and – dare I say – illegal taxes.

And it’s really not that difficult to see the cross-pollination that is happening.

Research the percentage of our politicians who are in the Senate, the House and the upper echelons of our government who claim to be Catholic/Christian. The figures should astound you.

In turn, if the Catholic/Christian politicians can convince the leadership to sway the masses through false promises of ending abortion or outlawing gay marriage, they can get into (and stay in) office.

If they had a backbone, church leaders and other Catholic/Christian influencers worldwide could end this “symbiotic relationship,” but they don’t because they benefit from the interaction . . . so Jezebel is “tolerated.”

OK, rant over.

“Who calls herself a prophetess . . .”

People look at this part of the passage and immediately go looking for any woman who goes by “Prophetess so-n-so” and condemn them. While I loathe it when any gender insists on using titles, I won’t jump into that rabbit hole right now.

Anyone who knows me knows that I am probably at the worst end of the “PC spectrum,” but for the rest of this post, when speaking of “Jezebel” in the present, I am going to try to write “gender-neutral” to reinforce that this is a mindset and not a woman.

You have to remember that Revelation is a book of imagery.

This “prophetess” represents a mindset, not a gender.

This mindset assumes that it speaks and teaches the “Word of YHWH” just like a prophet would.

The Greek word for “calls” in “who calls herself a prophet” is “lego” which means to say, to speak, affirm, advise, command and direct. [1]

Those of “Jezebel” are of the mindset that they have the correct understanding of the Word of God, so they think that they speak the truth, they think that what they preach is the Word of God.

Therefore YOU must accept what they have to say . . . or you’re going to burn in hell.

“To teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality . . .”

Before we continue, let’s refresh our memory. Let’s take another look at our key passage.

Revelation 2:20
Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols.

If you take an honest look at this verse, you’re going to find a disconnect.

You see, when you read about Jezebel in the Tanakh (Old Testament), she doesn’t overtly do these things. There’s no record of her seducing people to eat meat sacrificed to idols and, other than getting gussied up for Jehu, no record of sexual immorality.

Technically, “seduction” to do something is not the same as DOING something.

“Seduction” to commit sexual immorality is not (technically) sexual immorality . . . of course, it LEADS there . . . but it’s not the same thing.

Be that as it may, the Mother Church – as well as ALL of her Protestant Christian daughters – are saturated with sexual immorality. I really don’t need to elaborate much on this; it’s all over the news – not to mention right before our eyes in the churches.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve heard of the hundreds of priests, bishops and other members of the clergy taking out their celibacy frustrations on innocent children.

Protestant clergy and church members are no better. They also are guilty of these (and other) kinds of sexual perversions. [2] [3]

And, if you’re still not convinced that sexual immorality is rampant in the Protestant church, all you have to do is look at the percentage of males who will actually admit to looking at porn.

Men may want to rationalize their porn use by saying that they are not actually committing a sexual act, so they are not really committing sexual immorality.

Remember, Jezebel seduces men to commit sexual immorality.

Men, be honest. If the entire world could see what your camera eye can see when you view porn, it would be evident to all that you have a lie on your hands. [mic drop]

“To teach and seduce My servants to . . . eat things sacrificed to idols.”

Regarding “sacrificing meat to idols,” what is the modern-day equivalent? Let’s take a look.

When people partook of “sacrificing meat to idols,” they ingested – or “internalized” – something in and of itself wholesome, that was offered up to an idol.

That act of offering up the meat, defiled the meat and made it no longer consumable for the believer.

Jezebel promotes the idea that it’s OK to take something that was originally offered up to an idol (or a pagan deity), internalize it and make it a part of who you are.

Likewise, “Christianity” has “christianized” pagan practices since the first century.

They continue to do so today.

In our modern church setting, this is referred to as “taking something back for Christ,” but it is nothing more and nothing less than a smokescreen created by Jezebel so that you will “eat meat sacrificed to idols.”

People who adhere to this mindset are taking a practice that (in and of itself) may seem completely harmless – it might even be nourishing – but if the practice was originally “dedicated to idols,” it is an entirely different matter.

Technically, there’s nothing evil (in and of itself) in cutting down a tree and putting it in your home.

There’s nothing wrong with exchanging gifts.

There’s even nothing wrong if you kiss someone in a forest, look up and you all-of-a-sudden realize that there was mistletoe in a tree.

But when you do it as part of a custom originally dedicated to idols (or demons, or false gods), you are partaking (or ingesting, or communing) with the entity that it was dedicated to.

I may have used Christmas customs as an example, but this extends to other “harmless” infatuations, as well.

Long ago, these seemingly innocuous practices were dedicated to something evil. And, contrary to what your Christian or Hebrew Roots friends tell you, there are no “harmless offshoots” of what USED TO BE “bad,” but is now “good.”

Isaiah 5:20
Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness;
Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

This shouldn’t even be a debate. These practices have no place in the believer’s body, or speech, or life.

But the Jezebel mindset teaches you that you can “take these things back for Jesus” or partake in them “as long as you glorify Jesus,” because hey, after all “God knows your heart,” and that’s all that matters.

This kind of foolishness is what is taught in Charisma magazine, TBN, and from pulpits worldwide, so their followers partake in these condemned practices and think, “meh . . . no biggie.”

Oh, you don’t believe me? Watch this.

Pat Robertson (and the entire Christian world) may not bat an eye at this kind of mixture, but YHWH calls it adultery.

Proverbs 30:20
This is the way of an adulterous woman: She eats and wipes her mouth, and says, “I have done no wickedness.”

The Jezebel in the Tanakh managed to surround herself with 450 prophets of Ba’al and 400 prophets of Asherah. As I mentioned in the previous post, the “prophets” were not pagan imports, but were Hebrews who turned from YHWH’s ways and followed the gods of the land.

They obviously partook of meat sacrificed to idols, and it can be inferred that Jezebel may have seduced them to do so.

The Jezebel mindset that I’ve described in this post (and the prior post) is rampant in the church. It’s right before our eyes, promoted by the leadership and hungrily lapped up by the eager-to-compromise-with-the-world congregants.

If the following verse is true (and it is, because we’re seeing it unfold before our eyes):

Revelation 2:20
Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols.

. . . then we would be foolish to ignore the rest of the passage.

Revelation 2:21-23
And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent. Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of their deeds. I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works.

Here we find a record of the consequences of buying into and participating in the Jezebel mindset meted out to a “church” by the “gracious God” that they have preached for so long.

IV. Python, Your Worship and the Proliferation of Hellenistic Thought

The influence of Python in the Greco-Roman world was greatly enhanced by the expansion of Hellenism (Greek philosophy, culture, values). This worldview stands diametrically opposed to the concrete truth of YHWH’s commands and greatly affects not only the way we see the world, but also our view of worship.

Deuteronomy 13 Deep Dive

Deuteronomy 13 Deep Dive – What if they don’t say “Let us go serve other gods?”

Because of the Deuteronomy 13 test, those with opened eyes are trying to discern between “true” and “false” prophets by the signature words “Come and let us serve other gods,” only to be shut down because nobody who claims to be a prophet – not even the worst offender – would say something so heinous.

But is that really the criteria Deuteronomy 13 is telling us to use? Or is there more to the story? … Let’s do a deep dive into this important passage!

Love Hurts So Good

Love Redefined – Hurts So Good!

The modern day church THINKS they know what God’s Love is. We’re told to be nice to everybody, feed the poor, accept people the way they are, don’t lose your temper in traffic, be patient with each other …. all of this SOUNDS like God’s Love … BUT IS IT?? I want to do a small study about the Lovingkindess of God. It’s not some obscure term, kept mysterious and unattainable until we go to be with Him.

  1. Pat Robertson’s co host saying “Christmas is a thing of the heart”! REALLY? That makes it even WORSE! People are listening to their “wicked” heart instead of God’s Word! It’s so awful it makes me nauseated!!

  2. Kevin,

I too was taught about Jezebel being a spirit (since the late 80’s). When we objectify a person (or in this case, a spirit), it is easy blame and disassociate ourselves with it. However, the subtlety of a mindset that creeps up upon us is even more insidious. It is the principle of “the little foxes spoiling the vines” or “a little leaven, leavens the whole lump of dough”. Slowly we give ourselves over to “group think”.

Christmas or Sunday worship tend to be more obvious to most readers of this blog of this mindset. But I want to ask all of you: “What are other areas that this mindset has taken hold in churches or Hebrew Roots congregations that you may have visited or that you are actively attending?”

Great article Kevin. Thank you for challenging me brother.

  3. Very powerful indeed. The Lord has been speaking to us about these very things. Come out of her my people. Thanks Kevin.

  4. Right on Kevin

Here’s a blessing for you that you can pass on:
May our God “count you worthy of the calling, and may He fulfil all the good pleasure of goodness, and the work of the faith in power, that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and [the] Lord Jesus Christ.” From 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 Young’s Literal Translation.

At the beginning of his letter to the Ephesians, Paul shows us God’s plan for us is: 6 to the praise of the glory of his grace, …12 to the end that we should be to the praise of his glory …14 to the praise of his glory.

  5. Respectfully, What is your experience with casting out demons? Do you have any teachings in this regard oror anything that address the names they refer to themselves as that are specific to their function or purpose?

  6. I appreciate Podcasts, similar to radio. I like to read but the “screen time” is not good for the eyes.

Thanks Kevin for being faithful and sharing this teaching. You got it.

From the rule of pharaohs to Roman Pontiffs, the people have been enslaved to a false religious system and seduced by Babylon through friendship with the world.
Calling all true worshipers…Flee from Babylon! Run for your lives!

  7. Such an excellent teaching. Right on. Really woke me up.
    Send more teachings.
Lord protect this man and may enlighten many

  8. Shalom Kevin,
I like the podcast. Easy on the eyes! There is however a real Baal sprit and xmas is steeped in it! Might I add the man idols set up in the hearts of those who do not have a love for the truth, approving what Yahweh calls whoredom and abominable because they prefere teachers to tickle the ears because it feels good to the flesh. Didn’t Yahosuah say ” I come in MyFathers name and you believe me not, a man comes in his own name and him you believe.” It’s very sad to see just how far and long the deceptions have gone. Praise Ya, He is bringing Truth to the ones who will see and hear.
The Father has used many of your post to help me weed thru true/false prophets with the scriptures. Thank you!
Blessings to you and your family Kevin!

    1. Thanks Kelli! … not to contradict you but give you food for thought … the Greek influence to the Bible is partially responsible for the hyper-spirituality we have accepted through the ages. To contribute to the worship of an idol does not require a “spirit” working behind the scenes, but the cooperation of people. That said, I can’t see a “spirit of Baal” anywhere in the bible.

  9. Shalom to you, Kevin………This is getting to be quite interesting, and perhaps ‘just in time’. People are enticed by their own lusts, therefore disobeying the first commandment…..the ‘god of self’. This is mostly all done ‘knowingly/with knowledge’, when getting to the source of the action (fruit on display). They virtually ‘sell their souls’ for temporary satisfactions/pleasures and are stiff-necked, not teachable/changeable and have their reputations (not so good!). Yahuah changes not! What He did not like ‘yesterday’, He detests even today. So, “repent” is always a timely word, (for all of us) but can you, will you? It does require a broken spirit and a contriteness of heart; so therefore is more than words spoken.

Also, by alignments, we can get a glimpse of the apostates. You will know them by their fruits.

May Yah bless you exceedingly and noticeably as you continue to build up the body with truth and help the captives to be set free and be a part of the giving of sight to the blind. Yahuah has partially blinded Israel for a time.

  10. Wonderful! thanks so much for correcting this mindset on Jez being a spirit! I had not seen it having been indoctrinated by the prophetic. Sad that so many that call themselves “seers” do not see…So many things to unlearn…Thank you! Judi

  11. The word Protestant comes from the word Protest, the Jesuits were sent out to take down those who were protesting the Catholic Church, we have carried that label for Centuries, Father I rebuke the label and curse that was put upon me and past generations of being labeled a Protestant as if it was evil, I am a believer of Yahweh my God and King, and my deliver Yeshua. Praise be to His might name the Great I AM!

Kevin thank you for walking in truth and exposing lies, Father God continue to strengthen and reveal truth to set the captives free. Father we the believer are in need of being reprogrammed no less than the world, maybe even more. I praise You for everyday that more truth is revealed and the lies unraveled within my being.

  12. Jezebel was immoral, controlling , intimidating and deceitful……so if a wolf in wool behaved that way in a church, what is wrong with referring to to her as “like Jezebel”……in doing so, people who know God’s word are saved from a long and complicated description of an evil person?

    1. There’s nothing wrong with describing someone as being “like Jezebel” … it’s Christianity’s tendency to want to spiritualize everything that I take issue with. This whole “spirit of Jezebel” is a bunch of garbage.

  13. Great teaching on this! I would love to hear more. One thing that is NEVER mentioned, are the verses prior in that same chapter of Revelation 2:

“But I have a few things against you, because you have there some who hold the teaching of Balaam, who kept teaching Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols and to commit acts of immorality.” (Revelation 2:14)

We never hear about the “spirit of Balaam” even though he had enticed the people to commit the same sins as “that woman Jezebel”…
