OK, I’m probably going to offend some people with this one.
Christians who put these goody-goody graphics on Facebook about God and God’s love exasperate me.
It’s not that I don’t believe in His love; I truly do… and I need it just as much as the next guy/gal.
But I find that these same people (both on FB and in “real life”) who dwell on His grace and His goodness – to the exclusion of everything else – tend to get strangely silent when you mention the destitution of the world around them.
It’s like they just can’t handle it… it’s too uncomfortable… and it ruins their spiritual high.
They want the butterflies and the lily-white flowers, but they can’t tolerate the reality of the blood, the sweat and the sin that is right before their eyes.
They like to come to the waters and admire the pretty fish… but they can’t see the drowning child close by.
If they DO happen to see him, they are offended by his frantic splashing because it obscures their view of the pretty fish.
And the desperate screams for help just ruin the solitude, silence and perceived “peace” of the moment.
I wonder what would happen if Yeshua ignored our cries?
Now THAT makes ME uncomfortable!
