Embrace Your Discontent
If the Body of Christ were to truly understand that this earth is not our home, it would completely revolutionize the way we live our lives. Our True Home is the Kingdom of Heaven, we are just strangers passing through this earth. The reason most of us feel “out of place,” or like we don’t belong anywhere here on earth, is because we were designed to be that way!
What you have in your mind shall never be, when you say, “We will be like the Gentiles, like the families in other countries, serving wood and stone.”
If you don’t have the revelation that He is our Peace, you live with a gnawing discontent day after day after boring day wondering “where can I find my rest”? Even after we learn about His Peace, we have a discontent (although it may be a little more bearable).
2 Corinthians 5: 2-4 (AMP)
Here indeed, in this [present abode, body], we sigh and groan inwardly, because we yearn to be clothed over [we yearn to put on our celestial body like a garment, to be fitted out] with our heavenly dwelling, So that by putting it on we may not be found naked (without a body). For while we are still in this tent, we groan under the burden and sigh deeply (weighed down, depressed, oppressed) – not that we want to put off the body (the clothing of the spirit), but rather that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal (our dying body) may be swallowed up by life [after the resurrection].
Eternal vs. Temporal
The source of our inner turmoil is the fact that we exist as eternal (celestial, heavenly) beings on this finite (temporal, limited) earth.
Have you ever tried to put Eternity into a box? It won’t work! It’s like trying to shove the ocean into a little glass. The glass can’t contain it . . . it overflows the limits of the glass! So it is with the Child of God . . . the world does it’s best to contain us within its limits of length, width, height, time, money and other finite, meaningless values and boundaries.
Taken in by this deception, we try our best to conform, but a Re-Born Spirit cannot and will not be contained! Even our own fleshly desires and decisions cannot accomplish this! If we persist in trying fit into this world’s system, we are left with a feeling of empty fruitlessness, knowing that we are falling dreadfully short of our True Nature.
When you grow tired of this miserable carnal existence, and the ocean of your Re-Born Spirit starts to overflow the glass of this world’s system, the world (and most of the church that belongs to the world’s system) will frantically try to reign you in, screaming “NO! You must only do what is possible! Only what is allowed!”
Meditate on This (SELAH)!
You are an ocean that’s trying to live in a cup . . . an impossible task, according to this world’s system. They won’t understand you, they will think that you are completely out of your mind . . . they think according to this world’s reality. You are part of another Kingdom. Your understanding, your very existence is meant to TRANSCEND this reality.
Is this a little too far out for some of you? Perhaps we have clung too tightly to this world. Our values and goals in life should all be with the Kingdom of Heaven in mind. Consider the following verses from Hebrews.
These people all died controlled and sustained by their faith, but not having received the tangible fulfillment of [God’s] promises, only having seen it and greeted it from a great distance by faith, and all the while acknowledging and confessing that they were strangers and temporary residents and exiles upon the earth. Now those people who talk as they did show plainly that they are in search of a fatherland (their own country). If they had been thinking with [homesick] remembrance of that country from which they were emigrants, they would have found constant opportunity to return to it. But the truth is that they were yearning for and aspiring to a better and more desirable country, that is, a heavenly [one]. For that reason God is not ashamed to be called their God [even to be surnamed their God–the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob], for He has prepared a city for them.
Wow! Think about that (SELAH)! Those who look to another land, another existence . . . those who refuse to return to where they came from . . . GOD is not ashamed to be called their GOD!! Whether He comes in the next few years, or whether I die and go to be with Him, I want to appear before Him and know that He’s not ashamed of how I’ve lived my life . . . that He’s not ashamed to be called my God!Kevin Kleint
