The following quote from Bob Jones is a prime example of how the enemy can take something that sounds SO GOOD and SO SCRIPTURAL, and twist it… making it absolutely false.
“I’m quoting (below) what the Lord Jesus spoke to me that gave me an understanding of how faith works by love.
“There is a deeper compassion man has never understood. The Father taught Me that day as I hung there naked. Although they mocked and spit upon Me while I was on the Cross, I looked at them with love. The love of the Father is without condemnation because it is with full acceptance of the sinner’s sin. He loves them with the love of His Son that was worked in Me that day.”
“No greater love has man than he’d give his life for his brother. That was the greatest testing of My faith. To walk in the faith of God you must know this and demonstrate it daily. Choose to love all mankind no matter what their sin. Just love them! You cannot stray from the Cross. It is the final crucifying of the flesh. Love God, love yourself and love your brother.”
Bob Jones did NOT hear that from God.
Let’s get one thing straight – Jesus died to save us from our sins, and I’ve been saved from MANY… but He never accepted my sin. Think of the logic of this quote… “God accepting sin.” Are you kidding me? The kind of “love” that this generation preaches is birthed from a crossless gospel that requires no repentance. The message ALWAYS starts with repentance, and if repentance is not present, you are NOT saved.
Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.
But go and learn what this means: “I desire mercy and not sacrifice.” For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.
God is a merciful God.
In His Mercy, He extended a lifeline to us while we were still in our sins… but the condition was that we repent. Yes, He did love us while He was dying on the cross. Are we so arrogant that we think we can hold on to the very sin that He died to save us from?
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Rather than accept what the modern-day prophets say, find out for yourself what the Word of God says about His love. Here are a few articles to start you off:
