Absolute Truth and Your Responsibility

Such a profound revelation, all wrapped up in a simple verse.

Proverbs 14:15 “The simple believes every word, But the prudent considers well his steps.”

We live in a day and age where we are constantly being fed information. Billboards, televisions, newspapers, pastors, prophets and teachers vie for our attention and our trust. Each entity will claim to speak the Truth.

But, if they are all speaking the Truth, why are they all saying different things?

As Jeff Goldblum once said in the movie “The Lost World”, “There are no versions of the Truth.” Man, that is SO TRUE!

Let’s think about Truth for a moment.

Truth, by it’s very nature, MUST be Absolute. If there are different versions, different perspectives, or different “angles” to Truth, then Truth becomes subject to our biases and opinions and no longer fits the definition of “Truth”.

Don’t Fall for It

It is important that we never, ever fall into the trap that says, “Well, they have their ‘Truth’ (or perspective) and I have mine.” That is such a cop out. It is also a vain attempt to relieve ourselves of the responsibility to FIND the Truth and WALK accordingly.

But we will ALL, one day, be judged according to His Truth, whether we choose to accept it or not.

Rom 2:5-6 “But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, who ‘will render to each one according to his deeds’“

Judged by the Word

It is vital that we embrace the responsibility to find out the Truth of His Word. If we shirk this responsibility, we WILL be judged by the very Words we rejected.

John 12:48 “He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him–the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.”

However, the GOOD news is, if we receive the LOVE of the Truth, we will not be deceived in these final days!

2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 “The coming of the [lawless one] is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the Truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the Truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”

May we all be found LOVING His Truth today! The alternative is not so pretty.
