A.W. Pink: Will We Ever Regret Living “Too Strictly”?

A.W. Pink“Does any Christian reader imagine for a moment that when he or she shall stand before their holy Lord, that they will regret having lived “too strictly” on earth? Is there the slightest danger of His reproving any of His own because they were “too extreme” in “abstaining from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul” (1 Peter 2:11)? We may gain the good will and good works of worldly religionists today, by our compromising on “little points,” but shall we receive His smile and approval on that day? Oh to be more concerned about what He thinks, and less concerned about what perishing mortals think.”

  1. Pat Jimmerson-King says:

We as the body of Christ are to live according to scripture, and not to please man. We are in this world but not of this world, therefore we are expected to live as what we claim to be. People should see the Christ in each of us, because He lives in us, if we’ve been born again. To live a strict life on the earth is repenting daily, searching one’s self daily, in God’s word regulary and having more than a knowing of who He is, but being intimate with Him. Those who try living a rightous life before our King will find it quite easy to desire to live for Him, when we become Kingdom minded, that your mind is stayed on Him (God) and it is earier when you realy love someone you will find it easy to submit to them. We can’t seem to live one day without eating or drinking something that is not good for us, that harms our body, or look at somthing that is not good for our minds. We must stop making excuses. Discipilne ourselves to living a life acording to what please our God, if that is “strict” then so be it. We shoud desire to stand before God some day and hear ” Well done my good and faithful servant.” It’s the “little fox’s that spoil the vine”.

  2. I think it really depends on whether we were using the power of the self to fulfill the requirements of the law (self righteousness and the flesh) or whether we obeyed by being sibmissive to the Holy Spirit within us (grace). JMO

    • I totally agree with your comment. Not submitting to the Holy Spirit to obtain righteousness is works.
