Bob Jones: Crowned by many in the prophetic movement as a "father" in the faith, Bob Jones seems to be a very "gentle" man, but the words that come out of his mouth (considered "prophecy" by those who follow his teaching) are mostly inaccurate and, sometimes, unscriptural.
I was doing some more research on the Lakeland Revival and stumbled upon this message on the Elijah List web site dated April 23, 2008 (at the “peak” of the Lakeland Revival). Apparently nothing could stop that revival either ….

Because people desire a “have-it-your-way” supernatural experience, they are prone to seek supernatural fulfillment through carnal (sensual) means. In order to understand “the prophetic” from a biblical standpoint, it would make the most sense to look at the behavior of prophets of the bible. Prophets were always a spokesperson for God, calling the children of Israel back to obedience to His commandments. Their behavior could be classified as “odd”, especially when you look at prophetis like Ezekiel and Isaiah, but the “end goal” of their demonstrations was always to display Israel’s unfaithfulness, the punishment that would result from that unfaithfulness, and the benefits that could follow IF they repented. In “God’s Mercy-Naries”, Bob uses a quaint little turn of phrase to prophesy of an Army of God who is untouched by “the spirit of religion” (a “spirit” not found anywhere in the bible) and shows the mercy of God to everyone. Of course, God will prosper them, they will use all the gifts of the Spirit, they will replace the “old guard” and their entire mission is … mercy, mercy, MERCY! Is this starting to sound familiar? Let’s get one thing straight. Jesus died to save us from our sins, and I’ve been saved from MANY … but He never accepted my sin. Think of the logic of this quote … “God accepting sin”. Are you kidding me? The kind of “Love” that this generation preaches is birthed from a crossless gospel that requires no repentance. It is not my intention to pick on specific people with this next section. I am using Bob Jones and Paul Cain as examples to show that perversion and error has had a firm foothold from the roots of this movement and is being passed on directly to the “younger” generation of prophets and their followers, who revere the “older” prophets unquestioningly, because they’ve been taught to do so. It is SO EASY to just accept what you hear when it comes from a person you admire, but the consequences are great when what you hear is wrong, or worse yet … half right. [Read More]
It started around the year 2000. I was working for Hewlett-Packard and, through the grapevine, I learned of this daily email newsletter that published “prophecies” to around 30,000 people. This was back in Elijah List’s “text-only” days, where you received only 1 email per day. At the time, I was going to a “Word of Faith” church and I had a very strong foundation in the Word of God. Still, I knew that there was another element in my Walk with God that I wasn’t experiencing yet.
