I received a letter from someone who, like me, was involved in the Prophetic Movement for quite some time and has only recently had the eyes of their understanding opened to the Truth. They asked me what steps should be taken to “rehabilitate” themselves and get back on track.
When you’re involved with the Prophetic Movement, there are so many distractions, half-truths and … well, junk, that your vision gets foggy and you feel like you’re lost in the middle of a huge forest with no direction as to how to get out. You doubt your ability to hear God’s Voice and the Truths and Promises of His Word no longer seem valid or reachable.
Have you had enough of the crazy visions, theories, “warfare”, visitations, psycho-twitches, HO’s and Shabbah’s?
THERE IS A WAY OUT!!!!
This answer is so simple, it’s SO easy to discredit it and sweep it under the rug.
Here’s the answer: READ YOUR BIBLE AND PRAY … A LOT!!!
Could it be this simple?? YES!!
Transform Your Thinking
We are told in Romans 12:2 to “be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” This is the perfect way to find your way out of the forest … by having your mind transformed!
You’ve been wandering out in this sea of confusion, moved and shaken by every wind of doctrine and teaching of man … and you want a way out … you want to chart your course in the direction of Ultimate Truth. The Word of God will do this for you!
The Spoken Word of God has it’s own Power that, when listened to and meditated upon, can actually CHANGE the way you think. It can fine tune your “spiritual” ear to actually be able to discern between the Holy Spirit and “other” types of spirits.
Be prepared to find ways of thinking in the Word of God that conflict with what you’ve learned in the Prophetic Movement. There are many things that I had to re-learn as my mind became more aligned with His Word.
Talk With God
The other thing that needs to happen is a lot of prayer. The Word says in 1 Thess. 5:17 to “pray without ceasing” … in other words, DON’T STOP!! While you may not be able to actually speak out in prayer all the time, you can keep yourself in a position of continually listening for His Voice. Hearing what He has to say is WAY more important than anything we think we need to pray.
As you’re listening, remember that you’ve been part of a movement that allows for other spirits to enter into the picture. This can result in a lot of confusion when listening to the Father’s Voice, so you really need to compare what you hear with what is in the Word of God. The Holy Spirit will NEVER NEVER NEVER tell you to do something that conflicts with what the Word says. Never be too prideful to admit that what you heard wasn’t from God … I’ve made this mistake a lot!!! I thought that I heard His voice and then acted before I compared it to His Word and ended up in a real mess!
Another gauge we can use to analyze if we’ve heard correctly is good bible-believing friends who have a proven track record with God. Not someone who sounds “spiritual” (there are plenty of those flakes), but someone who is solid, firm, grounded and steady in the Word … those are the ones you want to glean from.
Get Rid of the Fluff
The church has become entirely too dependent on books, worship CDs, teaching tapes and other “fluff”. Get rid of them … especially if they are from the old way of life from which you are trying to escape – GET RID OF THEM! You don’t need worship CD’s to get into His Presence, you don’t need instruction from these books by people who think they’ve heard from God.
YOU NEED TO HEAR FROM GOD FOR YOURSELF!
When you get alone with God, quiet yourself and rely on Him alone for your spiritual experience … gradually, but faithfully, He will pour out on you such revelation that you will not have room to contain it! The Best Revelation comes directly from God, not from man.
Take the Time
How long it takes for you to be back “on track” really depends on you. How long are you willing to spend with Him daily? Do you really want to be back “on track”?
I want to challenge you to tithe your time and dedicate 1/10 of your day (2-1/2 hours) to spend time with God (not as a religious duty – think of it as an investment) in prayer and in the Word. This is a great way to break through certain ways of thinking and to re-establish a damaged foundation. It worked for me!

Hello to you Kevin and others who have posted here. Blessings and Peace to you all.
I have been richly blessed to find a site that is willing to share experiential history and then properly apply Gods Word to the hurts that were suffered. I have seen nothing that resembles bitterness or strife in the authoring and see accurate word covering to support the conclusions. I personally have walked in “similar shoes”and have learned much over my 55 years in this amazing mass of people in Christ that is called The Church, including the Pentecostalist, The Charismatic movement, The Latter Rain movement, The Sheperding movement, The “Extreme Revivalists”movement, The Laughing movement, The Manifested Sons and Dominionist movement that flows with the Kingdom Now Amellinilaist (second coming already happened) movement, The New Apostolic Reformation movement, and many more. The Elijah List (of which I subscribed for some time) supported much of the blatant New Age practicing persons and “New Mystics” so I felt the need to unsubscribe also.
I have had the privilege of meeting and sitting in on meetings and seminars/conferences with multiple persons leading these movements. I believe that virtually every one was as sincere and as committed as the next and truly have believed that they were “Doing It Right This Time” or had found the “Deeper Revelation” per say. In this quest for deeper revelation, deeper understanding,the real truth, the new thing; many have been obviously uncovering and awakening an entire segment (if you will) of spirituality that was not spoken of in detail by our spiritual fathers in the books of church history. It has become quite apparent that MANY persons in the “Spirit Filled Church” are weak in their WORD knowledge and have succumbed to a “LUST” of “SPIRITUAL” experiences and “Ecstatic Bliss”that in turn has invited a host of “Angels Of Light” which come right along side of that which is pure and holy and in a sense “Morph” and the Centering Prayer Transcendentalist “ignorant Believers” lavish in this false Holy Spirit. My heart is so grieved, I have wept and lamented over this “Beautiful Bride” who should be preparing as never before for the return of “The Christ” The Bridegrom our “King Of Glory”. We as the Church should be doing one thing and that is sounding the alarm and preaching ONE THING!! That is Christ and him crucified, Dead and Buried, Raised from the dead, Ascended to the Father, and coming again to receive those who are passed on and those alive on the earth, and his Kingdom that is to come to which there will be NO END!! A return to the power of God which is the Gospel!! A return to the word as a people of God!! A people of God who walk in the Fear Of The Lord!! A people who walk in The Spirit but dont become manipulators of “Spiritual Things” which in turn manipulate us for evil works that deceive!! I truly Love The Church and I also truly love those that have tragically succumbed to this mass delusion and deception . I will not condemn any man or woman or make room for the enemy to sow seeds of discord(there are plenty of persons doing that) .But I will pray and intercede on their behalf every day, that THE HOLY SPIRIT who is THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH will expose the New Age Occultic spiritual force that has ridden into the Church POSING and manifesting with even signs and wonders. And I am believing that many will hear that call again to return to the foot of the Cross and receive a full pardon through the Blood of Jesus. I am praying for every believer to gain a new hunger for the Word Of God “FOR THEMSELVES” and quit listening to every wind and doctrine that blows around the Church. I believe in The Gifts of the Spirit and the Ephesians 4 Church and Miracles of all kinds. In (THIS DAY) we need discernment more than any gift there is!!
Please join together with all Brothers and Sisters that you know that are not caught up in this New Age Ocuultic influence in the Church and lets cry out to God for a massive awakening and a move of repentance in The Church before the end!! Even so come quickly Lord Jesus!!

observation- if there is any form of hierarchy ,in any system ; such as in business, home , religion ,church ,government, education ,etc. IT will have deception in in it ,known , unknown ; but still bringing in deception ! And the deception works on souls in varying degrees; and deception does work and its victims do not know it is working . That is its nature. When the level ground that the love of God in Christ ,( the Cross ),this Living Covenant = the Savior our Messiah is stood upon ( the only foundation ) ; and the people are in a “horizontal” ( for lack of a better word to describe ) relation ;there can be wisdom , harmony ,and unity in the Fear of the Lord Almighty; with growing true spiritual growth into the fullness and stature of Christ .my observation is, institutionalized (church-ee-anity) reads many decades of compromised beliefs of its system ( its doings and ways of relationship) and reads that and the deception that comes inherently with the hierarchy back into the scriptures. many people are hungry for position and title ( hall monitors on speed) and lose site of true function that operates and moves by His will and pleasure. Here in amercia – people live in a co-opted “colonizer” socially engineered cultural; that is being herded towards the systems end and desire , not the Kingdom of our Heavenly Father. With money ( mammon) all it buys, and the love of it moving through the deception that the hierarchical ways allow. another observation- money is spoke of and used in theses movements ; churches ; society ; but few know or teach the truth of the money system here in the west; but go on teaching on Jesus parables ;and teach on , Tithes ,offerings etc. but I have never heard taught that the truth about money in this amercian system is no matter when ,where or what for, you use money – cash .check or credit. it ALWAYS creates dept, even if you give it away as soon as it is used in the system it makes dept, even if its hidden under a bed frame it incurs dept- it is the nature of the system . I use this example to emphasize the ways of deception. I ask for prayers strong and faithful for Gods house of Prayer ,as your hearts are moved and your led by God’s Spirit of Grace and Wisdom; that the reality of His house would overtake the movement that people have and none would be lost. Thanks for your site Kevin and your articles, if you still live up in berry country have some big bowls for me, may they make you smile ,and remind you of the fruit of the Holy Spirit as you enjoy your life in Christ.
