In the world of blogging, sometimes you have to admit defeat. The guys at TestEverything.net have put together a 10 minute teaching on how we are to love God, from a scriptural perspective. I really can’t write on it any better than they have explained right here.
We can have “feelings” toward God, but unless we are loving Him the way HE says we are to love Him, it means absolutely nothing.
You owe it to yourself to check this out.

Please all who watch this take the advice of 119 to test everything including what 119 is saying. the church will never raise up a “David” only God will do that according to His will. I agree with a lot of the posts from Kevin but I believe that 119 is a front for the “Hebrew roots” movement and If the law is the way unto salvation than we don’t need a savior. When the Holy Spirit comes to live in our heart the law is written on our heart, this is not a human Act but a God act “salvation is from the Lord” not from me because I was dead in my sin. Please test everything to Gods word compare it with what is said by all men. If they say “Obey the law” or “Read the KJV only” pay attention to what is motivating them, Is it the fruit of the spirit Gal 5:22 or something else. Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees no matter what robes they have on.
Bob,
Like all movements, denominations, etc … there can be fringe elements. Hebrew Roots is no different. But, it’s strange (and a little sad), every time I’ve read or viewed something from a “Hebrew Roots” perspective, it’s always lined up … I’m not saying wierd teachings don’t exist, I’m just saying that I haven’t seen them. Oftentimes, people are absolutely freaked out because something appears “Jewish” and/or goes against their current understanding. Because it’s uncomfortable, rather than search the Word for themselves, they would rather make unfounded accusations.
I’m not saying you’re doing that, I’m just saying that is often the case.
For the record, I’ve watched many videos from 119 ministries and NONE of them have ever preached obedience to the law/commandments as a means of salvation. Rather, they preach that we obey BECAUSE we are saved. And that matches up with what I believe. If the Law is written on our hearts, it’s not so that we may discard it. Rather we are to hold it dear, and do it.
God bless you bro.
I understand where your coming from
I find most Hebrew Roots followers to be rather arrogant and not showing the fruits of the Spirit but instead showing their knowledge as a sign of their walk. I am a sinner saved by God’s Grace and not following rules. As He has walked me through these last six years since Christ arrested my heart I have hungered and thirsted for His righteousness not my own. thank you Kevin for the opportunity to share our thoughts with other believers.
I found a lot of great doctrinal truths from “Pilgrims Progress” Mr. Bunyan read through the Bible 200 times in his 12 years in prison and he starts at the right spot “my heavy burden of sin”and teaches us to recognize so many pitfalls on our journey down the narrow path. just to clarify I dont mean to jump from Gods word to John Bunyan’s as if they are on the same level.
I always look forward to see what other Christians post and reply to on your site!
Thanks again!
Just a quick thought, I have watched this video twice and something stuck in my ‘craw’ as the old folks used to say. On hearing it a seccond time one line stood out that made me ‘test’ their words against the Bible. The Minister said ‘shame on us if we cannot keep the first law’, which goes against the fact that God said that He removes our shame through the death, burial, and resurectlon of Jesus Christ, and if that was not enough He endowed us with Power from on High through the Holy Spirit. God Chastens whom He Loves, so as we allow Him to be God in our life, then we Learn what Love is in Him. It’s not keeping His Commandments that brings us into His Presence, it’s His Presence in our life that gives the wonderful opportunity to be obedient to His Voice, because we learn His Voice and His Way.
Before I gave my life over to Christ I was a curser, who embarrassed myself with the vulgar words that I put together. Then the Holy Spirit convicted me about the life I was living and I cried out to Jesus to Save me. Now, I did not stop cursing all at once, but one day I realized I wasn’t doing it anymore and did not know how long it had been since I did. That came from the time that I spent with Him and the Great Work of the Holy Spirit. which reminds me that I need to spend more time with my First Love, who first Loved me.
Agreed
Kevin, I have so benefited from this teaching as well as others from this website. It is amazing to me how the Father has brought your family along this journey in such a similar way as ours. Thanks for all that you do for the kingdom!!!!
This is the best teaching, from the Word of God, about love I have ever heard. I love the convicting power of the Holy Spirit…and I have this conviction…that if I say I love God and keep not His commandments, then I’m a liar. Also the Holy Spirit does not bring commendation, because I’m in Christ, but brings truth and knowledge of the truth will set me free. I’m purposing in my heart to love God and keep His commandments.
When we learn that His commandments (all of them) are not restrictive orders, but loving guidelines to living in His Presence … our whole perspective changes!
