Christian Celebrities Gone Bad – What Happened to Katy Perry?

Katy Perry – Just Another Sacrifice

Katy-Perry-GrammysJust like everything else that Hollywood is churning out these days, the 2014 Grammy Awards proved to be a repugnant display of hedonism and occultism.  Promoted by the show-biz moguls and shamelessly executed by their puppets (the performers), this celebration of decadence achieved it’s not-so-veiled goal of reaching new “lows” with each passing year …. further blinding the minds of it’s viewers to the Truth.

Yes, the Hollywood juggernaut knows all-to-well that the public will swallow any message that they wish to convey.

Ahh … but this is nothing new to those who are paying attention.

Those of us who chose not to watch “the show” were subsequently given a taste of the prior night’s debauchery in the headlines, images and videos that permeated the internet on the following day.

Aside of the Katy Perry video, I didn’t watch the show. I did, however, check out the highlight video, and that was more than enough to cause me to feel extremely defiled and in need of a hot shower.

It looks like the night’s “festivities” included:

  • Beyonce gyrating on a chair while her O.T.O. husband, Jay-Z, looked on
  • Lorde twitching and spasming like she just came from a Todd Bentley meeting
  • 33 couples (gay and straight) being married by Queen Latifah
  • Taylor Swift at the piano becoming possessed by yet another demon
  • … and some other band (Imagine Dragons?) being soaked in blood

And if that wasn’t enough, Katy Perry’s conjuring of the “Dark Horse” …. the act that stole the entire awards show.   (Caution: Watch at your own risk)

How did Katy Perry go from a Worshiper to a Witch?

Katy Hudson (Perry)Katy Perry is another “christian” performer raised in a “christian home”, who came to Hollywood (perhaps with the best intentions), only to end up a spokesperson for those with a dark and satanic agenda.

How can this “fall from grace” happen? We’ll explore that soon.

Just as an FYI:  Katy Perry is not alone in her fall … many more christian celebrities have pursued their dreams in show business, only to end up mouthpieces of the devil.

Justin Bieber

Then

Justin Bieber then“I’m a Christian, I believe in God, I believe that Jesus died on a cross for my sins,” Bieber says in a new interview about the memoir. “I believe that I have a relationship and I’m able to talk to him and really, he’s the reason I’m here, so I definitely have to remember that. As soon as I start forgetting, I’ve got to click back and be like, you know, this is why I’m here.”-“Justin Bieber Talks Jesus & Marriage” – by Donna Kaufman, Nov 2, 2010

The list goes on … Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Kanye West … all of them entered the music industry fairly innocent, only to give up on everything they believed to bow at the altar of satan.

Time doesn’t permit me to give the same detail as I did above with Katy, Justin and Miley, but do the research …. you’ll quickly see a pattern emerge. It’s the same ole’ tired story.

A Different Direction

bad-fruitIn this post, I don’t want to go down the rabbit trail (and endless debate) over whether or not these people are saved – I believe the “fruit” is self-evident in each situation.

I don’t even want to assign blame, because quite frankly, it’s just too easy to blame parents, the lure of money and fame, or “spiritual warfare.”

Rather than discuss the obvious possibilities (or probabilities?) that have been debated, rehashed and analyzed in hundreds of other christian blogs, I want to  take you in a slightly different direction and explore a couple points that, I believe, tend to get conveniently overlooked.

Preaching the gospel of Hollywood

starry-eyedMany of these celebrities (and wanna-be celebrities) set their sights on Hollywood because they feel that they are going to use their talent to “take the world for Jesus.” Somehow, they have it in their minds that Hollywood is going to actually allow them to preach the True Gospel to the world.

Seriously?

Listen, the only gospel (little ‘g’) that the Hollywood juggernaut is going to let you preach is Hollywood’s gospel, which closely resembles Aleister Crowley’s message … “Do what thou wilt.”

Sure, they may allow the mention of the name of Jesus, but only in a twisted form.

Hollywood would never let you see Jesus’ true Nature. Instead, they would rather you watch Kanye West’s “Jesus Walks” or Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” and learn their twisted version of the Son of God.

To further complicate matters, the gospel that these starry-eyed kids are taught growing up is so watered down, it hardly bears consideration. Jesus said in Matthew 28:

Matthew 28:18-20
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Honestly … Do you think Katy Perry was ever told that she needed to teach the commandments of God to her fans? Even if she were willing, do you think her agent would let her?

What about Justin Bieber? Do you think that he was told that, after a performance, he would need to hold a baptismal service? Would his audience of pre-teen “lust bunnies” be able to stand hearing Words out of the Book of Life? …. well … maybe.

Hahah … Seriously though … all joking aside, the answer is a resounding “No”.

The Truth is … Justin, Katy and “all the rest” (if they were told anything) were told that, if they just sang about God, they would be fulfilling the Great Commission.

Tell me, what kind of “mandate” is that?

Do you think that a young person could successfully stand against the temptations of the enemy (and their own flesh) by being “sent out” from their churches (and families) in such a manner?

It’s tragic … yet that is one of the reasons why, within their first year or two of stardom, these young celebrities fall flat on their faces before the altar of entertainment. Their ideas of “ministering the gospel” were misguided from the beginning.

But this shouldn’t surprise anyone …. the “gospel” taught by most churches in the USA is a recipe for disaster … even for “normal” people like you and I.

In the World, Not of the World

light-of-the-worldThe next thing I want to address is the notion that we, as believers, are “in the world, not of the world.”

Christians use this phrase all the time to justify their indulgence in worldly pleasures (sin). This phrase has gained a lot of traction over the last few years as christians have let down their guard in areas they shouldn’t have, such as drinking, listening to secular music and watching junk on television.

Being “in the world, not of the world” is also a mindset adopted by those who are setting their sights on show business.

The only problem is, there is no scriptural backing for being “in the world, not of the world.”

Like the phrase “the lion shall lay down with the lamb,” it cannot be found anywhere in the Word of God! It is just a catchy mantra that has become popularized through it’s frequent use.

The closest verse that one can find that resembles this phrase is:

John 15:19
“If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.”

Or perhaps an amalgamation of certain pieces of scripture out of John 17.

John 17:11-19
“Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are.

While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Your name. Those whom You gave Me I have kept; and none of them is lost except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.

But now I come to You, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves.

I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.

I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one.

They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.

As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth.”

So, as you can see, these scriptures really have nothing to do with taking part in worldly entertainment or fleshly indulgences in order to further the gospel.

Rather, it means the exact opposite.

We live on this earth, but our being set apart from the sins of this world (which includes feeding our ears, eyes and minds with things of the world – sin) is one of the main reasons why our Master suffered and died.

But the modern day church would have you believe that you can witness to Babylon by doing what the Babylonians do.

And this is yet another reason why you see Katy, Miley, Justin and “all the rest” bowing their knees to satan at the drop of a hat …. because they don’t know the difference between God’s love FOR the world and their own love OF the world.

They believe they can fulfill the Great Commission and indulge in worldly pleasures simultaneously. This is not the Will of God.

1 John 2:15-17
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life – is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.1 Thessalonians 4:3-7
For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God; that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified.

For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness.

It’s All Part of the Enemy’s Plan

The Truth is, evangelizing Hollywood (Babylon) by joining Hollywood (Babylon) is a losing battle! I sincerely believe that this deception is part of the enemy’s plan!

If you think about it, his reasoning might sound a little something like this.

satanAll I have to do is find a talented christian youth and promote them to the top of the secular music industry. Still relatively innocent (and certainly naive), the youngster will be egged on by their parents and church leaders, all of them under the assumption that the child will use their talent to “win the world for Christ!” … what fools!

Parents in the West will feel safe letting their children listen to this new music (especially if it’s labeled as “crossover”) because, after all, “[Insert name here] is a christian!“.

Because they get suckered into believing this lie, confusion will rapidly set in when [all-of-a-sudden] their new little “christian” idol starts to falter in front of their adoring children.

Hahaha! When that day comes, and the young celebrity has to “choose this day whom they will serve,” (and it WILL come) they’ll be in TOO DEEP to make a choice!

One more soul sacrificed at the altar of entertainment!

Millions of young souls heartbroken and disillusioned with their faith in God when they realize I am the one who REALLY won this battle!

Celebrity Sacrifice and a Lesson Learned

Body of Christ … let’s learn a lesson from this.

Don’t fall for the delusion that is being propagated by our leaders and our megachurches … that you can WITNESS to Babylon by ACTING like a Babylonian. Many who stand on this message only desire to get cozy with the things of this world – yet, foolishly, they think that they can stay sanctified.

Instead of just watching the Katy Perry video and saying to ourselves, “Oh how vile!” let us use this experience as motivation to stop the sacrifice of our precious children on the altar of entertainment.

Remember: When you compromise their sanctification, even with the best intentions … you cannot win.

For the Truth,

  1. Bob Miller says

Isaiah 11:6 – The wolf will live with the lamb,
the leopard will lie down with the goat,
the calf and the lion and the yearling together.
    (see below for full context)

    11 A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse;
from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.
2 The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him—
the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and of might,
the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord—
3 and he will delight in the fear of the Lord.
He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes,
    or decide by what he hears with his ears;
4 but with righteousness he will judge the needy,
with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth.
    He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth;
with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked.
5 Righteousness will be his belt
and faithfulness the sash around his waist.
6 The wolf will live with the lamb,
the leopard will lie down with the goat,
    the calf and the lion and the yearling[a] together;
and a little child will lead them.
7 The cow will feed with the bear,
their young will lie down together,
and the lion will eat straw like the ox.
8 The infant will play near the cobra’s den,
and the young child will put its hand into the viper’s nest.
9 They will neither harm nor destroy
    on all my holy mountain,
for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord.

As Christians, I think it would be much more productive for us to work together filling the earth with the knowledge of The Lord rather than pointing out the transgressions of others– whether in occult rituals, Hollywood, pagan religions, etc. It’s really easy to get overwhelmed by the seemingly endless displays of blatant Jesus bashing, but I find myself usually cringing at the Christians debate skills. If we want to call ourselves true worshipers of Christ, then we’ve got to start being as innocent as doves, as shrewed as snakes, reach into the viper’s nest unafraid, pull out a smooth stone, and slay Goliath in one shot.

We are to go out and make disciples of all nations. We are to be fishers of men! How can we possibly do this if we don’t know first how to fish? Can you imagine trying to fish with someone who just doesn’t quite have it all together yet, and they’re all splashing around causing a scene ruining it for the whole team? I’d say Christians are the worst metaphorical soul fishers. Think about it. Even if it’s not “your” Christian group per se, just make a mental list of the nets you, yourself, try to avoid getting caught in…I guarantee it’s someone trying to save your soul from eternal damnation through a carpenter’s son from a little village in Nazareth.

We have to start looking at our witnessing methods from the outsiders point of view. If Christians could just act a little bit more like Jesus, we’d be catching boat loads of fish. We’re supposed to give Jesus rest, but as it stands he’s still being misunderstood by his own. We’re still debating who’s the greatest, still asking to be the ones seated at his right and left, and still worse we bicker with one another just like the scribes and Pharisees. And we all know how Jesus felt about them… just check out Matthew 23′s eight woes if you need a refresher!

23:15 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you travel around on sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves. (and that’s just 1/8 woe…)

I hope it doesn’t seem like I’m trying to minimize the true efforts needed to combat spiritual warfare. I just think when it comes to witnessing to others it’s all in the spin, they need to participate and we need to give off a quietly confidence vibe because we have an ace up our sleeve.

Jesus didn’t just blanket the crowds in healing. He first asked if they wanted it, and then their faith that they’d be healed would save them. Some people might not want to be healed yet or ever, and we need to be ok with either choice. Not enough faith in the world can heal someone who doesn’t want to be healed.

But this is the gig. This is what we’ve signed on for, and it’s been this way from the very beginning. The world is going to reject us at every turn, and we’re told to rejoice at this because…

Matthew 11 “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

When I watched the Katy Perry Grammy’s performance, I thought… wow, I cannot believe they let her get away with that because what I saw was so blatantly Christian. I pictured this kind of debate happening on a Wicca site or something. Now, I could be totally wrong, but it’s all in the spin.

So at first, I thought oh boy here we go…moon… witches… pale horse of the apocalypse… this cannot end well. But then, I saw something amazing (and even rewound it a few times). The dark horse – death – it bows down on bended knee to Katy and then is destroyed. Literally, it just breaks apart and is banished. At this time, the rap portion plays, and Katy is now dancing in the middle of three poles with two other dancers. One on each side. Katy’s red X on her costume now becomes quite obvious since the other two dancers lack this detail and are dressed in all black. So, for me, what I saw was an occult jab. Blink and you’ll miss it. Not too well versed on Jesus’ message, and all you will see is witches being witches, you know?

I thought it was beautiful just because it seemed like the Christians are starting to fight back a little more like a serpent while the message is still innocent as a dove. Jesus crushed death. The pale horse has no sting because of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross to die for our sins so that we could live without fear of death. This is what I saw, and I may be totally wrong… but watch the video again and let me know if you find it as interesting as I did. It kind of turned into… oh WOW and this was at the Grammy’s!?!

    1 Corinthians:
19 “For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them. 20 To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law. 21 To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law. 22 To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. 23 I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings. weak in order to gain the weak. I have become all things to all people, so that by all means I may save some.”

Actually, Miley Cyrus’s comment, “Forget Jesus, stars died so you could live” is a quote from a lecture given by a University of Arizona professor in 2009.

“Every atom in your body came from a star that exploded. And the atoms in your left hand probably came from a different star than the atoms in your right hand. It really is the most poetic thing I know about physics.

    You are all stardust.

You couldn’t be here if stars hadn’t exploded. Because the elements, the carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, iron, all the things that matter for evolution weren’t created at the beginning of time. They were created in the nuclear furnaces of stars. And the only way they could get into your body is if the stars were kind enough to explode.

So forget Jesus. The stars died so you could be here today.”

There was something on TV recently about the secret ‘religious’ sects in Hollywood. I was quite shocked to learn one particular cult have woman engage men to have sex but before the actual ‘act’ the women ask the men if they know Jesus.

Hmmm…is this the modern version of Temple Prostitution? The ancient pagan practices of sexual rites as offerings to deities?

Nothing new under the sun when we understand Exodus 32:6;”And they rose up early the next day and offered burnt offerings and brought peace offerings. And the people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play.”

    The word play Clarke’s commentary:

“And it appears they went much farther, for it is said they rose up to play, letsachek, a word of ominous import, which seems to imply here fornicating and adulterous intercourse; and in some countries the verb to play is still used precisely in this sense.”

The ancient Mesopotamians practiced temple prostitution.
“The foulest Babylonian custom is that which compels every woman of the land to sit in the temple of Aphrodite and have intercourse with some stranger once in her life. Many women who are rich and proud and disdain to mingle with the rest, drive to the temple in covered carriages drawn by teams, and stand there with a great retinue of attendants. But most sit down in the sacred plot of Aphrodite, with crowns of cord on their heads; there is a great multitude of women coming and going; passages marked by line run every way through the crowd, by which the men pass and make their choice. Once a woman has taken her place there, she does not go away to her home before some stranger has cast money into her lap, and had intercourse with her outside the temple; but while he casts the money, he must say, “I invite you in the name of Mylitta” (that is the Assyrian name for Aphrodite). It does not matter what sum the money is; the woman will never refuse, for that would be a sin, the money being by this act made sacred. So she follows the first man who casts it and rejects no one. After their intercourse, having discharged her sacred duty to the goddess, she goes away to her home; and thereafter there is no bribe however great that will get her. So then the women that are fair and tall are soon free to depart, but the uncomely have long to wait because they cannot fulfill the law; for some of them remain for three years, or four.”- Greek historian Herodotus

“Now these things became examples for us, so that we will not desire evil things as they did. Don’t become idolaters as some of them were; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and got up to play. Let us not commit sexual immorality as some of them did, and in a single day 23,000 people fell dead.” Paul in 1 Corinthians 10:6-8

It was also interesting to learn how Hollywood got it’s name.

“Magic wands were always made out of the wood of a Holly tree. It’s made out of Holly wood. Hollywood is a Druidic establishment and the symbols, the words, the terms, the stories, are designed.” — Jordan Maxwell

“The Druids would use the wood from a Holly tree to make magic wands. Holly Wood is the magic wand that keeps Modern Man under the Illuminati’s spell.” Robert Livingstone

  4. Jeanne Theunissen says

Hi Kevin, I was recently watching some videos on YouTube about the Illuminati and the music industry. (One of these videos was by a Christian, and one from a Muslim.) One of them showed Katy Perry in an interview where she clearly stated that when she first started out, she wanted to be like the Amy Grant of music, but when it didn’t turn out that way, she “made a deal with the devil.” Beyonce talked about something that comes over her when she performs that allows her to do things onstage or in videos that she wouldn’t normally do. Just before she goes on, she raises her hands up, and she feels a kind of energy entering her body. She has named this “entity” Sasha Fierce, and she talks about Sasha in a number of different interviews. Other artists, too have openly admitted to making deals with the devil, and one artist (I forget who) said the whole thing about making deals with the devil and signing your name in blood (her words) just wasn’t worth it. The entertainment industry is getting more and more open about their occult and satanic agenda. Also take a look at a video of some of the archived blogs of Tila Tequila where she tried to warn people of what she knew was going on, and subsequently suffered a brain aneurysm. A lot of people may laugh this stuff off as “conspiracy theory,” but anyone who doesn’t recognize that there is a real spiritual battle going on is blind.

You should also note Ed Bradley’s interview with Bob Dylan. Ed asks Bob why he’s still doing what he’s doing, and Bob says “because I made a deal a long time ago, and I’m holding up my end.” Bradley asks, “what kind of deal” “To get… to get where I am now.” “Should I ask who you made the deal with?” “With the… the Chief Commander.” “On this world?” “On this world, and the one you can’t see.”

Yes, these stars are being used, but many of them know it, and they know exactly what kind of deal they made and with whom.

  5. says

    Hi Kevin,
“Being in the world, not of the world” is a phrase I heard being taught back in the 80s, a phrase I didn’t question at first until one day I wanted to use it myself and thought I should provide a chapter and verse backing to give my message biblical authority. I searched and searched and couldn’t find it.
Maybe that was one of the first times I became aware of how unbiblical so many of our Christian “biblical” clichés can be.

As for Christian singers entering the world of show business, we’ve had similar things happening in Australia, with professing Christians finding their way into the finals of a few TV talent shows. At one time this trend was noticed by the media and accusations were made that Aussie mega churches were getting their members to vote for certain singers to help them along.

In the first series of Australian Idol, the winner was Guy Sebastian, one of the worship leaders at one of the mega churches, and publicised as a virgin before marriage because of his faith. Now after several years he is heavily tattooed and speaks in support of gay rights, and in interviews it is clear he has turned away from the gospel of Jesus and now presents a kind of relativist/syncretistic religious outlook , if in fact he had ever held to the genuine gospel.

There are others who did well in the show and went on to “show biz” careers – none of whom are showing any hint of their previously professed faith.

More recently the winner of Australia’s X Factor, Dami Im has also professed faith in Jesus; even refusing to perform material on the show that she thought compromised her faith. She is new to the world of show business; we can only pray that her faith is genuine, that it will remain strong, and that she will firmly resist the forces that would try to undermine that faith

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I remember a preacher shared a story about counseling an engaged couple. The woman was a believer in Jesus but the man was not. She protested the scripture stating that we should not be unequally yoked with unbelievers by saying that she could get him ‘saved’.

The pastor had her stand on his desk. He then directed her to pull her boyfriend up to where she was. Of course she could not. Then he told the man to pull her down to where he was and of course he was successful rather quickly.

  7. says

    Hello Kevin,

Great article. You summed it up well in the following words:

“Don’t fall for the delusion that is being propagated by our leaders and our megachurches… that you can WITNESS to Babylon by ACTING like a Babylonian.”

Christians today are hearing a message of salvation that has been divorced from transformation (into the image of Christ). There is no such thing. Salvation and transformation cannot be separated. If a person remains in bondage to the flesh and sin, living to pursue the pleasures and materialism of the world, they have not been saved (delivered).

This is what I see as one of the chief deceptions present among professing Christians today. They equate salvation with confession of certain things about Christ. The apostle Paul shone a light on this error as he wrote:

    Galatians 6:7-8
Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh shall from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit shall from the Spirit reap aionian life.

Your statement quoted above reminds me very much of these words of the apostle. When you say, “Don’t fall for the delusion,” it is the same as Paul saying “Do not be deceived.”

May you be blessed with peace and understanding in these days.

    • says

Thanks Joseph! Say … what’s “aionian” in the comments above, in the Galatians verse? If it’s a mistype, I’d be happy to correct it. If not … maybe a new Greek word? Hahha ….

      • says

Hi Kevin. I love reading your blog. I don’t know whether you were responding to Joseph’s use of ‘aionian’ with tongue in cheek as the misinterpretation of this Greek word and it’s equivilant ‘Olam’ in the Hebrew has been one of the greatest deceptions in this eon (pun intended). Look up Strong’s numbers 165 & 166 and you will see a large contradiction in meaning i.e. pertaining to an age and eternal. It’s like saying an hour is the same as forever.

Trust me when I say honest study with the Spirit’s help on this word alone will change forever (another pun intended) the way you read the scriptures.

Keep up the great work and I will leave you with two of the myriad of links on ‘aionian’ or ‘aionios’.

        Link One
        Link Two

May you be blessed with peace and understanding in these last days.

        • says

No, I seriously didn’t know if it was a mistake or what it was. Can you “briefly” describe to me how this is used to deceive people. Feel free to write me at kevin@honorofkings.org if you wish. I hate to sound lazy, but I have so much to read on different topics, I hardly ever get to things in a timely manner.

You have been quiet right on the quotes from the Bible. Just wanted to add that anything on screen or media is an acting … acting is a LIE itself ….. and the lie is always from the Devil. If you are of the TRUTH, you cannot LIE.
John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Reminds me of Elvis. I never really took to his music but I noticed his seemingly dual personality promoting sex on stage but after concerts not drinking and playing and insisting those around him play gospel music with him at his home. The duality apparently tore him apart. He even tried in his career to sing gospel but the record companies didn’t want to hear it. How much more peaceful and alive he would have been if he would have just walked away from the stage. He probably thought too coming in a Christian that he could promote the gospel but instead the duality consumed him.
