2012 – Changes for the Year Ahead

Earlier this year, I mentioned in one of my posts that I wanted to get past talking about my experiences with the Elijah List and the Prophetic Movement. I have recently come to the realization that this is not God’s plan for me …. at least in this phase of my life.

There are a couple reasons why I say this:

  • I continue to receive many emails from people who are either (a) suspicious that this kind of deception is infiltrating their church or (b) coming out of the deception, and thankful that someone is finally saying something.
  • As long as the superstars of the Prophetic Movement continue to provide such ample material for commentary and correction in their teachings and “prophecy”, I feel compelled to hold it up to the Word of God and the Spirit of Truth.

No Smear Here

I’ve occasionally been accused of wanting to smear the Elijah List’s (as well as some of the other ministry’s) reputation(s), nothing could be further from the Truth. In fact, to attempt to do so would be a futile and foolish task. The Prophetic Movement (and their associated ministries) will ALWAYS have their adherents until the time that Jesus returns. They may not congregate under the same brand (who knows what the new “movement’s” name will be?), but there will always be a large number of people who will flock to soft and crossless teaching, because it feels good to their flesh.

These same people, when you place their teaching and prophecy in the light of the Word of God and show them their error, will STILL cling tightly to their idols. It makes absolutely NO difference to them.

Would you like to test it out?

In November 2011, Kim Clement prophesied the fall of “two massive” leaders by the Christmas season. Kim believed it was the leaders of Syria and Iran, but it doesn’t matter, the two massive leaders didn’t fall. Held up to the light of scripture, this was a false prophecy, making Kim Clement a false prophet.

Deuteronomy 18:21-22
“And if you say in your heart, ‘How shall we know the word which the LORD has not spoken?’– when a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that [is] the thing which the LORD has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him.”

Now, take this proof and show it to your “prophetic” friends. We have a direct quote and we have a prophesied timeframe. Show this to your friends. What did they say? I hope I’m wrong, but chances are, it didn’t make a difference. If it DID make a difference, feel free to let us know by commenting below …. I WILL REJOICE WITH YOU.

Many people, especially those who support Kim’s ministry, will say that, because he is human, I need to be merciful to him, and I certainly do NOT hate Kim Clement. I’m just as fallible as he is, in fact, I am probably MORE fallible … but I have no scriptural obligation to listen to the guy, he speaks presumptuously and says he hears from God.

But the Word would say otherwise.

What’s my point? My point is we are SO CLOSE to His Return and, like it or not, I’m going to continue to expose the error that the enemy is using to deceive those who are perishing. When I see those, who are coming into the church to escape darkness, fall into a yet greater darkness (false truth, false grace and false love), I can’t just stay quiet, and I can’t afford to care what people will think.

I just wanted to be a teacher of the Word and stay “under the radar”, but it looks like that’s not going to happen.

Happy 2012!

For the Truth,

Kevin Kleint

Great articles on Elijah LIst. Very much appreciated and I see your heart. I know the Lord showed me everything you talked about when the Todd Bentley meetings were taking place. I saw the attitudes of the people that were pretty scary.

Anyway, the Lord showed me these people, if they don’t wake up, will be deceived and will, out of deception, will come after the remnant church – which they call living in the old way.

They chase after all kinds of manifestations and not all manifestations come from God. Satan does manifestations and even heals but not permanently.

Anyway, I set up a website to expose it because I was so grieved in what I was seeing and experienced at my church that I ended up leaving. It was like, through the Todd Bentley, they showed what they really believed and lost my church. It was a hard time to go through especially since I cared about these people and still do. It was an ugly departure and never my heart to ever leave with division and misunderstandings but there was.

I learned a lot during that time and decided to get close to the Lord. Back in the 90’s used to go to a lot of conferences and been to some in the 2000’s and been shocked by what I witnessed by these people. It was like these people sold their soul for money but I could sense there were those who were participating in witchcraft or witches did come in and made you believe they were christians. What a sad day for sure and have to say your article was well written with the right heart but my heart was very grieved by the reminder of what happened back then.

I heard Chuck Pierce recently..I just want to believe he is above all this other..How does one find out about a prophet without waiting for years to find out if what he says is true..what is his history..someone should know…thanks so much

The Lord has most definitely used you in my life to confirm that I was swimming in treacherous waters for six years. Very few people coming out of the prophetic movement are talking. Maybe out of fear of the ugly backlash???

“Fragile” is the word I would use to describe myself after my time in there. That is by no means a description of who I was beforehand. So I say “YES!” to the Lord having you here. “YES!” to you being a watchman on the wall. Leaving can be lonely. Those with no knowledge of the movement cannot imagine what it is like. I never did drugs, but I think it was probably like one bad trip.

I hope that in time I too can help others as they come into truth and out of deception.

Blessings on you and your family!

Kevin, I think it is very important to expose deceptive teaching and preaching. And, even more than that, we need to keep pointing people to Jesus and the cross, to a personal relationship with Jesus and a life in which we daily take up our cross and walk with him. I am so afraid that the deceptive teaching/preaching (i.e., the prosperity gospel, the prophetic movement) lead people to expect that life in Christ in this world can be a “bed of roses” so to speak without the thorns. What Jesus taught and what Paul and other New Testament writers taught is very different. Jesus summed it up in “In this world YOU WILL HAVE TROUBLES, but take heart for I have overcome the world.” I have seen many people lose their faith in Christ when pastors or ministry leaders have toppled because their deceptive teaching or their own sinful natures cause a devastating implosion, or when circumstances in people’s lives don’t match up to what the ministers say it should be. People need to have good solid Bible teaching and understand what life in Christ really means. I have lived for many years in a country where Christianity is restricted and Christians face subtle and not so subtle opposition. And we know that in many nations people face losing everything, including their own lives, to follow Christ. These people are willing to do this only because they have accepted the true gospel as preached by Jesus himself. Kevin, I too was led astray many years ago by a pastor who preached the prosperity gospel and later deluded by the wishful thinking encouraged by the prophetic movement. God does give us a gift of prophecy, and I have seen it given many times to encourage, exhort, and edify His children, but to build a whole ministry on one gift or one teaching is, in itself, a great deception. And I am afraid that this is what has happened within the prophetic movement today. When that plays out, it will be something else. If God is leading you to continue in speaking out on these matters, then take heart and follow Him. God bless you, brother.
